Early detection changes the course of type 2 diabetes. Left unfound, it does its damage quietly — to the eyes, the kidneys, the feet — long before anyone feels unwell.
Why screening days work
Bringing the test to people removes the two barriers that stop them coming to us: the cost of travelling, and a working day lost. A finger-prick test takes minutes, and everyone who screens high leaves with a follow-up appointment already booked.
Nobody should learn they have diabetes only once it has taken their sight.
What happens next
Anyone flagged is added to our follow-up list and contacted within two weeks. Where medication is needed, we work with partner pharmacies so nobody is turned away over the price of a prescription.
